Criminal 03:02
His car smells a lot like home This night we'll trail off the road, feeling free Another stain on his baseball hat You see, he's no good at staying pleased His voice is true like a child's prayer It follows me most everywhere I know, how this goes He stole my heart like a criminal I'd steal it back but he won't let go I want, some control Let me walk away from you It’s time we say goodbye Cause all we do is hurt and bruise, now Let me go cause you know We've fallen down Tonight My coffee spilled where he wrote my name My eyes just filled with tears of shame Cause I didn't move Maybe I'm scared of a fight Maybe i'm scared to be alone all night, I might Let me walk away from you It’s time we say goodbye Cause all we do is hurt and bruise, now Let me go cause you know We've fallen down Tonight Let me walk away from you It’s time we say goodbye Cause all we do is hurt and bruise, now Let me go, cause you know We've fallen down Tonight

California 04:04
I'll fight this forever But i know you're in my heart We were too close together Moving love apart Is it too late to call now Are you thinking the same thing Could I bare to hear the truth that I'm a pawn in all your games But I miss you just the same And I miss you just the same Darling, I'm holding back heartaches Darling, I'm losing all control Everyone says I'm doing better But we may not, we may not ever know I'll protect every letter I remember how you laughed You changed me forever Now I can't find my way back But I miss you just the same And I miss you just the same Darling, I'm holding back heartaches Darling, I'm losing all control Everyone says I'm doing better But we may not, we may not ever know Darling, I'm holding back heartaches Darling, I'm losing all control Everyone says I'm doing better But we may not, we may not ever know

Funny Kid 02:46
I know I fall too hard I know I fall too fast But I can't sleep tonight There’s a drum in my chest I always climb through a window When there’s an open door instead I know I talk too much And hold my breath in a crowd Cause my heart starts to rush I can love you more than they ever did We can figure this all out And I know that you're just the funny kid Would I be enough Could you be the one Would I be enough These padded walls are getting harder Something says i'll be here longer Waiting for you There’s an empty room where I'm standing But a sign that reads you'll be here So i'll wait here I can love you more than they ever did We can figure this all out And I know that you're just the funny kid Would I be enough Could you be the one Would I be enough Could you be the one Would I be enough I know I fall too hard I know I fall too fast

Holding On 03:17
I'm starting to go through the mill I'm starting to get a little unstable I'm starting to lose hope I'm slowly losing this game If only I could sing the highest note, Oh If only I could run away Woah I'm holding on But then again there's gravity I'm staying strong The world brings me to my knees I'm holding on I'll do it on my own But I don't like being alone Some days can knock a hole in me Some days I'm busted up So many expectations I can't meet So many people I can't please If only I could sing the highest note, Oh If only I could run away Woah I'm holding on But then again there's gravity I'm staying strong The world brings me to my knees I'm holding on I'll do it on my own But I don't like being alone I'm a walking contradiction I am my own affliction Woah Woah I'm holding on But then again there's gravity I'm staying strong The world brings me to my knees I'm holding on I'll do it on my own But I don't like being alone

about

These four songs have no specific theme but are layers of collected color from the past year and a half that describe days of varied emotion. There was never a solid color that kept appearing as my year was never only black, yellow, blue, red, or grey. My year was a mixture of diversified color, while discovering different shades in-between. I enjoyed writing these songs and am very excited to share them.

Paul Stevens and I recorded this EP at my house in Atlanta, GA. I first met Paul at an open mic a couple months back. He had a homemade tambourine attached to one foot, played a drum with the other foot, and picked the guitar with his fingers; while singing about his mother being a librarian. He is one of the most talented musicians you will ever meet.

While deciding which five songs to record, “Earth” by Sleeping at Last came up as an interesting side project idea. The song has always pulled me in, lyrically, as well as melodically. I think the songs or records we love/listen to the most validate something in us or seek to validate something in us. “Earth” has been one of those songs for me. It shaped up to be one of my favorites so I added it to the EP. Though, I will never be able to perform it as well as Sleeping at Last, I had an amazing time recording such a great tune.

My hope is that these songs resinate with people at whatever time in their life they stumble upon them. This small collection of songs describe pages of a chapter in my life that hit me the hardest; black, yellow, red, grey, white, blue-not just good or bad. They have helped me navigate my way about.

I would like to thank Paul Stevens for producing, mixing, and playing on these five tracks, Matthew Pendrick for playing electric guitar and Jacob Powers for playing electric bass. I would also like to thank Lauren Love for her generous spirt, musicality (I think that is a word), and laughs. My family has been awesome as well; thank you for your support and enthusiasm, Mom, Dad, Todd, Elle, and Chas.

“Our world requires that decisions be sourced and footnoted, and if we say how we feel, we must also be prepared to elaborate on why we feel that way...We need to respect the fact that it is possible to know without knowing why we know and accept that - sometimes - we're better off that way.”
